District Chief James "Jimmy" Sidney Dukes
 

DUKES James Sidney Dukes, 77, of Orange Park, FL, passed away on December 10, 2008 at
Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL. He was born August 7, 1931 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Olin Sidney Dukes and Iola Copeland Dukes. He retired in 1992 as a District Fire Chief with the Jacksonville Fire Department (F6 @ Station 22). James was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church; U.S. Army veteran; member of Mandarin Lodge # 343 F&AM and Scottish Rite; the American Red Cross Life Saving Corps and a member of NE Florida Square Dancers for 19 years. Mr. Dukes was predeceased by his son, Keith Fish; parents; sister, Jeanne Brickel. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lucy Mock Dukes; son, Kevin Fish; sister, Betty J. (Gordon) Matthews; nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. A memorial service in celebration of his life was held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, 11:00 AM at Ridgewood Baptist Church, 939 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32065 with Dr. Hal Fletcher and Rev. Richard Petry officiating. Family members greeted friends prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in Mr. Dukes' memory to Ridgewood Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
