Retired Engineer John Seymour Jr. whose last assignment was tanker 44 has lost his battle with cancer and has gone to be with the Lord on October 08, 2012. His wife Angie has asked for prayers of comfort. Funeral arrangements are as follows:

SEYMOUR  John D. Seymour, Jr., 72, passed away October 8th, 2012 at Community Hospice Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. His career spanned several professions. He was a retired Jacksonville Firefighter Engineer, retired Asst. Underwriting Manager from Trustmark Insurance Company, and recently retired from BB&T Bank. He was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard. He loved coin collecting, the beach, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighters Association and Firefighters Local Union 122. He is pre-deceased by his father, John Seymour Sr., and survived by his mother, Ann Allen of Jacksonville, FL; loving wife of 30 years, Angela Seymour of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; son, John Seymour III of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Angela Dubose of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and Cheryl Strickland (Craig) of Fairhope, AL; brother, Bill Seymour (Piety) of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Shayne Seymour (Samira Gjokhila) and Jessica Dubose (Aaron Taylor) of Jacksonville, FL, Robert and Alex Strickland of Fairhope, AL; and great-grandchildren, Emma Seymour and Logan Taylor (due 1-13-13) of Jacksonville, FL. John, known for his positive attitude, kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and generosity will be greatly missed. Visitation was held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 16th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 17th in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin followed by Interment and Reception in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd Jacksonville, FL. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville FL 32257.
