STARLING Leon Curtis Starling, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on February 15, 2012 with his devoted wife of 37 years by his side. He was the son of Curtis B. Starling and Josephine Starling. Leon was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He completed 20 year of service in the Naval Reserve. He retired from the Jacksonville Fire Department in 1990 following 42 years of service. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, the Morocco Shrine, Albert Russell Lodge, the Scottish Rite, American Legion, and Fleet Reserve Association. He was a former member of the Jacksonville Jaycees. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Alene Brumbaugh. He is survived by his wife Lynn, a son Wayne Starling of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter Wanda Weirich of Orlando, FL, a son Bob Dover and his wife Carla of Jacksonville, 3 grandchildren, granddaughter Kristin Weirich of Orlando, FL., grandsons Cameron and Zachary Dover of Jacksonville, FL., a brother Edwin Starling and his wife Mildred of Jacksonville, FL., as well as 2 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012 in the chapel. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, Fl., 32257. I wanted to extend my condolences for your loss and let you know I'm thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Leon was very good to me during my childhood years and I'll always hold a special place in my heart for him. I wish I had kept in contact more in recent years.
