JFRD Retired Fire Captain Shawn P. (Pat) Acosta passed away 01/01/2015

ACOSTA Shawn Pat Patrick Acosta, 73 of Fincastle formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Lucille Acosta, his wife of 49 years, Gail Acosta, and a brother George Acosta. Pat's life was one of devoted community service. Prior to joining the Fire Service, Pat was a member of the Duval County Sheriff's Office. He joined the Fire Service on May 10, 1969. Following graduation from the Training Academy, Pat was assigned to Station 36. His later assignments were: Chief's Aide - F 4, Fire Engineer at Stations 5, 7, 36 and 40; Fire Lieutenant at Station 15 and other Stations; Fire Captain as several stations. He retired on October 26, 2002. Pat is survived by his three daughters, Tiffany Ramo (JR), Meredith Adams (Tim) and Shannon Tate (Brandon), five grandchildren, Zachary and Seth Ramo, Emma Grant, Ryan Adams and Matthew Tate; three sisters, Shirley Fraysier (Bill), Margaret Gilliam (Skip) and Nancy Acosta, one aunt, Helene Duffy, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Pat's life was held 10:30 AM, Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Local 122 Fire Fighter's Hall, 625 Stockton St., Jacksonville, FL.
