BRINSON Retired JFRD Engineer Raymond Eugene Brinson, Sr., 87, passed away on June 28, 2014. He was born July 7, 1926 in Savannah, Georgia. He served as a cook in the US Navy during WW II. He was a fireman for 20 years with the Jacksonville Fire Department. After retirement, he kept in touch with and often visited JFRD station 4 as often as his health would allow. He is survived by his son, Raymond Eugene Brinson, Jr (Kaye), Springfield, MO and daughter, Gayle Wilson (Mike), Fernandina Beach, FL; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Peggy Forrest, Lake Mary, FL; Shirley Mullis (Gene), Jacksonville; and a devoted friend, Helen Porter, Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Annie Belle Brinson, brother, Curtis Brinson, and his wife, Mildred Brinson. A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville 32205, Tuesday, July 1, 6:00-8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville 32218 on Wednesday, July 2, 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will consist of firefighters from JFRD station 4.
