JFRD Retired Rescue Lieutenant Mark Fletcher passed away.

Lt. Fletcher retired after 38 years with JFRD.

FLETCHER Mark Douglas Fletcher, 72, of Interlachen, passed from this life on Friday, November 17, 2017 at UF Health in Gainesville following an extended illness. Born in Acushnet, Massachusetts, he resided in Putnam County for 35 years coming from Jacksonville. Mark worked as a firefighter / medic with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department where he was also involved with the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. He was likewise a volunteer with Station 17 in Interlachen and served as volunteer chaplain. Mark was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Interlachen and was also involved with Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose. As a member of a gospel band known as Jubilee, Mark enjoyed going with the band to play at area nursing homes. Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Darlene Fletcher of Interlachen, a son, Anthony Fletcher and a daughter, Angela Andrews, both of Jacksonville, a sister, Audrey Philips of The Villages, 3 brothers, Robin Fletcher and Bruce Fletcher, both of Boston, MA and Dana Fletcher of Alaska, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services celebrating Mark's life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose with Mother Diane Reeves and Father Tony Powell officiating. Fire Department honors will also be conducted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 4th Friday Food Bank, 111 Francis St., Interlachen, FL 32148.
