HIGGINBOTHAM Sidney H. Sid Higginbotham, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 23, 2015. A native of Jacksonville, FL, Sid was a lifelong Christian of Baptist faith. He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Army. He was known by many to be very generous and a true gentleman. His passions were his family and building the American Dream for countless people across Northeast Florida. He was respected and admired throughout the community and brought integrity to the construction industry. His reputation was second to none and his beautiful custom homes resulted in numerous awards and accolades. He was a retired JFRD Lt. Assigned to station #2 and treasured his time as a firefighter. He loved to pick and sing old time country and bluegrass music, and eating country cooking. He was a great joke and story teller. He also loved hunting, fishing and spending time at the Salt Spring Scrub. He enjoyed watching old western shows and the Atlanta Braves on TV. He is survived by his wife Barbara and predeceased by his wife Charlotte, their son Gene and his brother David. Survivors include his son Roger (Karol), and grandchildren Hannah (Carson), Kyle and Sara; his sister Gladys, his sister in law Glory; stepson Frank (deceased) (Teresa); stepdaughter Jackie and grandchildren Matthew, Wesley, Douglas, Dillon and Zachary. Arrangements for the Celebration of His Life was handled by Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Visitation was held Sunday May 3rd , 2015 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, and the funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, followed by the Interment at Riverside Memorial Park.
