The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association are saddened to report that

Active Duty JFRD Rescue Lieutenant Mario Moya passed away Tuesday August 17, 2021.

Lt Moya was last assigned to Rescue 42 in Mandarin.

Official statement from the JFRD is as follows:

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the line of duty death (LODD) of JFRD Lieutenant Mario J. Moya of Rescue-42-B. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic Lieutenant Moya unselfishly served this community while continually exposing himself to the very virus that cost him his life. He proudly served in the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department for 17 years and is survived by his wife Christina and children Bobby, Bella, and MJ. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced soon."

The funeral arrangements for Lt. Moya have been set.

The visitation / prayer vigil will be Wednesday August 25, 2021.
4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer vigil beginning at 6:00 PM. at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church

Jacksonville, Fl 32258

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday August 26, 2021 at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church

The committal will be at the
Jacksonville National Cemetery
4083 Lannie Rd.
Jacksonville, FL 32218
