Jacksonville Fire And Rescue Department Firefighter Chris Swary tragically lost his life in an automobile crash on the evening of February 02, 2016.

Chris was in the recruit class R-102 in 2002 and was last assigned to JFRD fire station number eleven, located on Talleyrand Avenue.

SWARY Christopher Charles Swary, 43, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on February 2nd, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. Chris was born in Bradenton, Florida on December 21st, 1972 to Michael and Linda Swary. He attended Sandalwood High School where he graduated in 1990. After graduation, Chris went to work for Baptist Health where he began his career in public service. His start in the security department led to an interest in life safety and shortly thereafter, Chris transferred to Baptist's Life Flight as a flight communications specialist. Later, Chris accepted a position as an ER tech at Wolfson Children's Hospital where he remained until 2012. In 2002, Chris realized his dream of becoming a firefighter as he was accepted into the Jacksonville Regional Fire/Rescue Training & Educational Center where he graduated later that same year. Chris has spent the last 14 years proudly serving the people of Jacksonville as a firefighter with JFRD, his extended family. Chris is survived by his fiancé , Lindsay Shelton, his two daughters Hailey and Brooklyn of Jacksonville; his parents, Michael & Linda Swary of Jacksonville; sister Bonnie (Terry) Woolard of Bryceville, FL; sister Dawn (Brian) Behan of Ocala, FL, brother William Swary of Jacksonville; niece Katherine (Christopher) Suter of Jacksonville; nephews Brandon and Zachary Behan of Ocala, FL; great nieces Mackenzie and Lillian Suter of Jacksonville.
