The officers and members of the Jacksonville Retired Firefighter Association regret to inform you of the passing of retired Engineer Donald 'Don' K. Machurick, on March 9, 2020. Don was hired on Consolidation Day, October 1, 1968, after retiring from the US Navy. Don was last assigned to Engine 41, and retired in 1993, after 25 years of service. Prior to being hired by the Jacksonville Fire Department he was also a volunteer firefighter with the Duval County Fire Protection Service. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 5-6 pm at the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville Beach, 32250. A Celebration of Life Service, at the funeral home, is scheduled the following Monday, March 16, 2020, beginning at 11 am. A Committal Service with military honors will follow at the adjacent Warren Smith Cemetery, 1538 2nd Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Don's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Please remember Don's family members in this difficult time.
